SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now if you played Batman: Arkham Asylum. You can just go ahead and back out of this blog. You know it's awesome and you don't need me to explain it to you. However if you didn't play Batman: Arkham Asylum you are in for a treat.
Arkham City is the sequal to Arkham Asylum. It is set one year after the events of Asylum. The warden of Arkham Asylum, Quincy Sharp, has used the cleaning up of Arkham Asylum to win the mayor's election and has established the old part of Gotham "Arkham City" and closed both the maximum security facilities and moved the inmates to the old region of Gotham City. Fenced in and constantly watched the area is under the control of a Dr. Hugo Strange (appointed to the post by Mayor Sharp) who has figured out that Bruce Wayne is Batman. Strange is planning something big and it is your mission to stop him but the famous criminals of Gotham are in your way and are involved while you try to stop Strange. On a brighter note Catwoman and Robin join the cast to help you stop the shenanigans in Arkham City. You will be facing Mr. Freeze, Two-face, Penguin, Solomon Grundy, Ra's al Ghul, and of course the Joker.
First off the idea of the game is similar to Asylum in that you have a task at hand, however you can just stop and kick a little inmate ass if you want to, plus there are small side missions involving some of the smaller criminals of Gotham. The scale of the map is 5 times the size of Asylum. You can glide and grapple your way across the whole map except for the restricted area which you obviously unlock later. You still have the same hide on the gargoyles and scare the crap outta henchman stuff except its not as easy, you have to use a little more finesse. At one point everybody has a gun in a certain part of the map so good luck sneaking up on them.
They added a few more gadgets to the utility belt but you still have most of what you had in Asylum already.
The game is incredible the challenge maps are still awesome and you can play them as Batman or Catwoman
Now I got it on PS3, there is no difference in game play from one system to the other (except the buttons)
I definitely recommend this game if you loved Arkham Asylum.
For the first time ever, I recommend buying this game at Wal-mart. Especially if you haven't played the first game. For the same price as buying Arkham City new, you get both that game and the original, Arkham Asylum. Great deal (even for those that have the original, just take the extra copy to Gamestop).
